Event Photography with Doug Ford and Monte McNaughton: from a top Toronto Corporate Headshot And Event Photographer
Event Photography in Toronto has many incredible locations and loads of interesting events to attend. During Covid lockdowns there wasn’t much photography happening but things have been coming back slowly. When one of my clients contacted me about an upcoming event they wanted coverage for I was excited to be able to provide them with exceptional service.
Here’s a checklist of how I help clients with events.
Consultation
Like any event that I photograph it starts with finding out what the clients’ needs are and how I can best provide them with the results that they want. The shoot had a VIP guest list that I needed to be mindful of so a phone consultation was important to go over any special requirements.
This particular shoot required me to provide fast turnaround of a selection of images so they could go straight to press. This is a common request that I talk with my clients about ahead of time so that I allot the time to get their work done.
Time Line
Unlike my portrait work events are constantly changing, be it location, subjects, or even lighting. This requires me to have the right equipment, and be ready for the change. Having a thorough conversation about the day’s timeline ahead of the event is critical.
Shot List
The shot list is important as there could be special people or moments to capture.
Event
Arriving early and to walk through locations with the event point of contact makes the whole shoot run smoothly.
Delivery
After the event the images are delivered online for download and sharing.
Final Check in
After the photos have been delivered I make sure to check in with my clients to make sure all of their needs have been met and that they are happy with the results.
Ta da!
That’s it folks. Event photography is a symphony of planning and execution and it’s fun in the process.
The photos from this shoot were for my client FreshBooks and their symposium for small business at their main offices in Toronto. The Honourable Doug Ford Premier of Ontario and the Honorable Monte McNaughton Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development were the main speakers. They answered questions from small business owners and the FreshBooks team.
