New Year Reflections for your best year yet, Top Toronto Corporate Headshot and Event Photographer

The end of a calendar year and start of a new one is a natural time to reflect on the past year. 2018 was full of lessons learned (link to work-life blog), moments of pride (humble brag!) and new relationships cultivated while old ones were fostered. Here are some of the stand-out highlights from 2018:

  1. Speaking of cultivating relationships, working with new clients is something that fills this photographer’s bucket to the brim! Orbis Investment Management was a new client to me in 2018 and not only was I able to photograph them at the top of the iconic Transamerica building (a dream location!), I also put my problem solving skills to the test by shooting on a white background and flipping it to blue. Not to mention, the slanted ceilings of their space provided an additional challenge that I was thrilled to rise to (pun intended!). <insert photo from shoot>.

  2. Another new-to-me and great client was Alpine Investors. Their fabulous Marketing Director enlisted me to revamp their portraits in the style of a Vogue or Vanity Fair shoot; a challenge right up my alley as some of those renowned portrait photographers have served as my muse over the years. Final Alpine portraits are still in review but I’ll be sure to share them on my website once they’re approved.

  3. Rounding out my list of highlights was the news that I was accepted as a Personal Brand Photographer on my mentor’s vetted list! Bear with me as I humble brag for a minute because this is a BIG FREAKING DEAL!  Jamie Swanson is a powerhouse in the field of business and personal brand photography and I have been following, admiring and learning from her for years. Her screening process for mentorship is rigorous. She evaluates not just the body of work from an applicant, but skill level, communication abilities and more. She is highly respected in her field and it is an absolute honour to be accepted as a mentee, among the ranks of some incredible photographers. To say I’m looking forward to what this year has to bring in terms of learning and growing under Jamie would be an understatement! Stay tuned for more as our mentor/mentee relationship grows throughout this year.

There you have it. Another year in the books and a great one at that. What are some of the things you’re celebrating from the past year? If you haven’t taken a moment to reflect, I encourage you to do so. It’s a great exercise and is valuable when it comes to goal-mapping for the upcoming year. I’m looking forward to adding to the tools in my kit, learning from the best in the game and meeting new clients as well as connecting with old ones. As always, I’m grateful for the support of my clients this past year. If we haven’t yet worked together, contact me today and perhaps you’ll be on my list of 2019 highlights!
